Not that I'm looking but....

I couldn't help but contemplate on my way home from work - If I were to work for a different company, what ones would be my top picks? Ed, Brad - have no fear. I am not looking for another job - I love everything about Aspen. But just for the fun of it...here's my top 5.

Honorable Mention: New Life Church, Yorkville, Ill. I interviewed Pastor Rick for work. They are a growing church with a great passion and unimaginable potential!

# 5 - Willow Creek Community Church, Barrington, Ill. Even though they have received a lot of flack lately and Bill Hybels has been criticized heavily, I truly believe he has a heart for Christ and the lost. That's a vision I could get behind, and therefore effectively market.

#4 - Google, Mountain View, Calif. I use it all the time. I hear it's a creative environment; I could even wear jeans everyday! And who wouldn't love living in California? (until the big one hit)

#3 - Budweiser, St. Louis, Missouri. Even though they were just bought out, who wouldn't love sitting around coming up with commercials as fun an theirs? Topped off with free samples! Ya buddy!

#2 - Community 4:12, Naperville, Ill. This is a non-profit organization that connects the affluence of Naperville with the under-resourced community of East Aurora. I got the privileged of interviewing Kirsten, the director. Her passion is contagious. I would enjoy spreading the word about what they do.

# 1 - Fishhook, Indianapolis, Ind. This is a small church communications company that only hires rockstars! Evan would be an incredible boss and I already know most of my would-be co-workers. Oh, and bonus: working in your PJs from home!!!

Alright - now I've got dishes to do, so I can get to bed at a decent hour. Tomorrow's another day at the office - the one that has kept me around for the last 20 months! The one I love!

We already consider you part of the Fishhook team, Abbie!

PS Oh, and on the PJ thing ... because of Skype, sometimes you have to dress up your top half, but you can always keep on your PJ bottoms.

Abbie - what a fun (and very nice) thing to read as I sit down to work this morning! I'm smiling. Thanks! One quick thought: are you sure you'd want to put church communications ahead of a position at Budweiser? On our best days, our company fridge is only stocked with bottled water, Diet Coke and Dr. Pepper. It's something to consider more! :)

I was so inspired by this post, that I've decided to work from home in my PJs today. (that and I have one home from school in bed today).

I agree with your comment about Fishhook! I work at a church in Indianapolis that has been blessed by them - professionally and personally - over and over again. Fishhook is growing. You never know...

Thanks for your insights! I also feel like a member of the Fishhook team :) You guys are like family.

I'd have to say one of the best parts of working at Aspen is getting to work with great people in other companies - half of my top 6 were people I met through Aspen.

Thanks for your insights - and for the record - Aspen's fridge is full of Diet Coke, Diet Mt Dew (yuck) and Pepsi!

Abbie, I was very honored and humbled to read that C412 would be a cause you could get behind! And, if things go the way we are hoping with the Lighthouse, our partnership with Aspen may just give you that opportunity to help spread the word! :)
