It's already January, but Kentucky got it's first measurable snowfall today. Schools all over the state have been canceling everyday this week - for what became flurries and temps in the teens and twenties! (Lightweights) Jessamine County (the kid's schools) waited until today to cancel - but they even did that before the snow started to fall! One of my friends called it a "Snow Anticipation" Day!
The snow started falling around 7:30 or 8:00 this morning and just created a light dusting. It wasn't until mid-afternoon that there was enough to consider it "measurable." Even then, the grass was mostly covered and the roads were slushy (that may have been due to the fact that Wilmore's snowplow(s?) really were nowhere to be seen!).

After enjoying some homemade "snow cones," Andrea, Ryan, & Leigha went outside to enjoy the fresh snow. Leigha lasted a whopping 2 minutes because it was "too windy." Andrea and Ryan played around the yard for a bit longer, but ended up coming in to warm up. The wind has started to pick up and the temps are dropping (oh, joy!). There are rumors of school being closed tomorrow as well because of the temps dropping to (hold your breath) the SINGLE DIGITS!! (Lightweights!) There is also drifting snow in the forecast, which justifies no school a little bit more.

Here's a picture of the winter wonderland from our front porch!
Now, of course - this snowfall doesn't compare anything to the 28 inches that fell in Iowa last month. In fact, it snowed everyday we were there over Christmas. The kids had lots of time to build forts, go sledding and enjoy REAL winter weather. Here's a couple of pics from Grandma Betty's back yard...
